2. What test do I take for COVID-19?
It is COVID-19 Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) gold standard test recommended by the Ministry of Health.

3. How is COVID-19 test done?
Nasopharyngeal and oropharyngeal swabs are taken.

4. What is the duration to do COVID-19 test?
Less than 5 minutes.

5. How long does it take to obtain the results?
48 hours.

8. How much is the test and do I need to make advance payment?
The test is RM330 and yes, advance payment is required.

9. Is this test covered by insurance?
According to the Economic Stimulus Package announced by the Government, COVID-19 tests are covered by insurance for up to RM300. Please kindly contact your insurance provider to check on your policy.

10. How do I get the results?
You will be informed by your doctor once the results are ready via call, email or both.

11. What is Patient Under Investigation (PUI) of COVID-19?
As defined by Ministry of Health Malaysia Guideline COVID Management No.4/2020 updated on 26 February

Fever OR acute respiratory infection (sudden onset of respiratory infection with at least one of: shortness of breath, cough or sore throat)
Travel to or reside in affected countries1 in the 14 days before the onset of illness
Close contact2 in 14 days before illness onset with a confirmed case of COVID-19.

1 Affected Countries as for 26 February 2020:
I. China (including Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan)
II. South Korea
III. Japan
IV. Italy
V. Iran

2 Close contact defined as:
I. Health care associated exposure without appropriate PPE (including providing direct care for COVID-19 patients, working with health care workers infected with COVID-19, visiting patients or staying in the same close environment of a COVID-19 patient)
II. Working together in close proximity or sharing the same classroom environment with a with COVID-19 patient
III. Traveling together with COVID-19 patient in any kind of conveyance
IV. Living in the same household as a COVID-19 patient

Please note that transit in an airport located in affecting countries is not considered as having travelled to that country.

12. Do I need to take 2nd COVID-19 test?
Yes, if you develop fever with flu like symptoms or if you had a recent contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19.
